Missionary

“A mission is a family affair. Though the expanse of continents or oceans may separate, heart are as one.” President Thomas S. Monson

When my brother was set apart one of the words that our Stake President said. When my brother would kneel and pray for us and we would do the same we would be closer that anyone could be. I have found that it is true. When we pray for families he is teaching just like him, when we pray for him to find those who are ready, when we try to do what he wants for those families he teaches, and when we help our local missionaries we have become closer. It does not matter that he is so far away and we miss him dearly the continent are nothing to how close we are to him and the work he is doing.

Being on a mission is not just for the missionary, it is also for the family who supports the missionary as well. We are of one heart.

Preach the Gospel

“After all that has been said, the greatest and most important duty is to preach the Gospel.” Joseph Smith

Truer words have never been so powerful. Being a missionary with or without a tag is a great duty. I am very humbled to know of all the things that Joseph Smith went through in order for the Gospel to be restored. He sacrificed so much and suffered so much to preach the Gospel. We are all in debt with him to continue working and preaching the Gospel that he died for.

The truth and light needs to continue to spread around the world. To preach the Gospel to the ends of the world and into every single home would be what our Father in Heaven would want us to do.

Missionary time

"No proclamation more relevant, no responsibility more binding, no instruction more direct than the injunction given by the resurrected Lord as He appeared in Galilee to the eleven disciples: Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Teach them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.”

There is nothing more important in this life than Missionary Work. Now that I have my brother serving a mission I know that this work is the most important thing to do here. To help bring our brethren and sisters back in the presence of our Father in Heaven. I love the Missionary work and those who are helping. I have learned that being a missionary we do not need a name tag. We are all missionaries. We are here to help those who have been set apart. We are all missionaries. I love our missionaries.

We are now in a very important time in life. We have the largest missionary army ever here on earth. That is something remarkable.

Revelations

"Different problems and many variations of old problems continually challenge us. Our wise and loving Heavenly Father knows all things before they happen, and He reveals answers and solutions through His prophet as needed." Teachings of the living prophets

I am eternally grateful for our Prophets, both old and new prophets are given direct guidance from our Father in Heaven.  We can see problems and answers to those problems in our scriptures. To know that if we listen to the prophets we are listening to Heavenly Father. We all have problems and I have found that if i listen to their counsel I will be okay. My problems are not new nad He knows what is happening and what will happen. Heavenly Father knows whet I need to learn in order for me to be what He wants me to be.

Revelations "sweet small voice"

“In our day, as in times past, many people expect that if there be revelation it will come with awe-inspiring, earth-shaking display. For many it is hard to accept as revelation those numerous ones in Moses’ time, in Joseph’s time, and in our own year—those revelations which come to prophets as deep, unassailable impressions settling down on the prophet’s mind and heart as dew from heaven or as the dawn dissipates the darkness of night." Spencer W. Kimbal

There have been times in my life that I have been asked for personal revelation and find myself waiting and waiting for something big to happen to tell me where I should go or do. When all along the answers have been there all along. I just seem to forget that personal revelation does not come with lightning and thunder but with a sweet small voice. Our Father in Heaven can only speak that way to us.

The outside noise does not help either. I have found that if I pray and do my part then take time to ponder it and wait for that sweet small voice I will get the answer and will be directed to the light.

General Conference

"Conference is the time when our leaders give us inspired direction in the conduct of our lives—a time when souls are stirred and resolutions are made to be better husbands and wives, fathers and mothers, more obedient sons and daughters, better friends and neighbors”
(in Conference Report, Oct. 1981, 15; or  Ensign, Nov. 1981, 12;

Every General Conference I ask five specific questions. I write them down and pray for guidance when i attend Conference. As the quote above mentions we are inspired the way we should direct our lives. One by one my questions are answered. I have done this for about six years and without fail i will have all of my questions answered. I know that if I follow the council of our leaders I cannot go wrong and neither will my family.

Personal revelation during General Conference is never wrong.

Prophets

“Of all mortal men, we should keep our eyes most firmly fixed on the captain, the prophet, seer, and revelator, and president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This is the man who stands closest to the fountain of living waters." Ezra Taft Benson

As I started to read for the class I feel in love with this quote. We all come to a point when we must ask if our leaders of the Church are true. If these men were truly chosen to guide and direct us. This desire came to me at a young age. I did not get my answer until a year later. When I was at General Conference and got to meet one. His Spirit testified to my Spirit that the man before me was a true seer of the Lord.

We all need to get on our knees and ask for this personal revelation.
