“It will be your responsibility to teach them and to help them discover who they really are,” he said. “Once they discover their divine origins and their great destiny and potential, they will be filled with Christlike love and the desire to serve Him throughout their lives" M. Russel Ballard

Once we have people get baptized it is important to be their friends and help them know who they are. That they are sons and daughters of a king and we are royalty. With our love and friendship we can help our brothers and sisters.

Not just numbers

“We do not share the gospel merely to increase the numerical size and strength of the latter-day Church. Rather, we seek to fulfill the divinely appointed responsibility to proclaim the reality of the Father’s plan of happiness, the divinity of His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, and the efficacy of the Savior’s atoning sacrifice.” —Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve

People think we just want people for numbers but we do not. We want them to know how important they are in the eyes of our Father. How He wants them back with Him. The eternal plan of salvation is the most important thing in this Universe. We are all missionaries and we must do our part.

Do not yield

"Do not yield to Satan’s enticements; rather, stand firm for truth. The unsatisfied yearnings of the soul will not be met by a never-ending quest for joy a midst the thrills of sensation and vice. Vice never leads to virtue. Hate never promotes love. Cowardice never gives courage. Doubt never inspires faith." Thomas S. Monson (We need pioneers today July 2013)

Satan is always ready to take us down. In whatever comes our way. We need to remember that Faith will always be stronger than fear. We need to stand firm in what we know is right. There are times when we do fall but we need to know that those thrills will not compare to the eternal happiness our Heavenly Father promises us.

Never leave Him.

President Thomas S. Monson “Unless the root of your testimony are firmly planted, it will be difficult for you to withstand the ridicule of those who challenge your faith, Nephi said ‘Heed them not,” Paul admonished, “God hath not given us the spirit of fear.” Be not.. Ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, We never leave Him.”

I have seen too many loved ones leave because of little things. I have been present when their testimonies were given and they have lifted me on my sad days. Many have left because the world would not accept them for who they were representing. They were ridiculed and chose to leave in order to be accepted. I know I will never be popular and I do not want to be. If the things I stand for are not popular than I do not want any part of it.

I do not fear of what is to come because I have faith.

Perfection, not in this life.

"Perfection does not come in this life, but we exercise faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and keep our covenants. Neil L. Andersen General Conference October 2010

I am not perfect and I do not think I will ever be. I try my best and that is all I can. I love how the Faith i have in this life can keep me going through the hard times. That is really all we have, Faith. Faith that we will be with Him once more. That we will have our families with us in the eternities.

Weak moments

"In our weakened moments, the adversary seeks to steal our spiritual promises. If we are not watchful, our injured, childlike spirit will retreat back into the cold, dark crust of our former bloated ego, leaving behind the warm, healing light of the Savior.” Neil L. Andersen General Conference October 2010

When I was in Young Women there was a speaker told us a story. For some reason there was a member who went over to the bishops home late at night. He just wanted to come by and tell him that he would no longer be going to church. He said that he heard his story or excuse and was very sad. While he listened to him he started to look at his fireplace. Once the brother was done. He got up and told his brother. "look at this piece of coal." He removed it from the rest of the coals and they both watched its red heat drift off and turn gray and cold into the night. "Brother, that is you and the other coals are the gospel." They both sat there crying without words.

I have found many times when things have gotten the best of me. Then I remember this story. I know that there will be more trials coming my way but just like a little coal, I need to be in the gospel in order for me to continue with my faith and the Light of the Savior.

We are all in this together

"We are all in this together. With fellow ward members and missionaries, we plan and pray and help one another. Please keep the full-time missionaries in your thoughts and prayers. Trust them with your family and friends. They Lord trust them and has called them to teach and bless those who seek him.” Elder Neil L. Andersen was from General Conference April 2013

I have never been so close to missionary work than now that my brother is on his mission. The responsibilities we as members now have are also increasing. This is all of our work. We all need to do our part to help our brothers and sisters know the Savior.  Just like a piece of cake, wouldn't we want everyone to have a piece of the most delicious cake ever created?

We are all missionaries

“Brothers and sisters, as surely as the Lord has inspired more missionaries to serve, He is also awakening the minds and opening the hearts of more good and honest people to receive His missionaries, you already know them or will know them. They are in your family and live in your neighborhood. They walk past you on the street, sit by you in school, and connect with you online. You too are an important part of this unfolding miracle.” Elder Neil L. Andersen was from General Conference April 2013

I have been very selfish about what I believe. You might want to say I have been scared to share what I believe in. I have friends who know what I am but have not even asked them to come with me to church. I have not planned to have them come to a family home evening. I know them well but the fear of rejection is what is holding me back.

I know that I need to be more open and invite people. I know that I am a missionary but I do not practice it. I need to be more open and daring.

Go Forth!

“We take most seriously the Savior’s mandate.. ‘Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” :this cause.. will continue to go forth, changing and blessing lives.. no force is the entire world can stop the work of God.” Elder Neil L. Andersen was from General Conference April 2013

This is a bold statement. I love how he says "no force can stop us". At the same time I stop myself. That needs to change in order for me to do my part in this missionary revolution. Every time I get a letter from my brother, I am amazed that he is out there in another country and preaching. He is such a great example for me and my family.

I need to be that strong. I need to take the Saviors mandate more serious. I need to help bring families back to the presence of our Heavenly Father.
"his commandments are the cause of reality and our protection against self-inflicted pain. They scriptures are the touchstone for measuring correctness and truth, and they are clear that real happiness lies not in denying the justice of God or trying to circumvent the consequences of sin but in repentance and forgiveness through the atoning grace of the Son of God.” D. Todd Christofferson General Conference April 2010

The scriptures have been everything to me. To know of the truth of His gospel. I am so thankful to all the prophets who obeyed Heavenly Father and wrote of his truth. I wonder where we would be if these scriptures were not here to testify of our Savior. To know that we can repent and we can have forgiveness. That we are not lost and we are able to be back with our Father in Heaven.

Enlarge our Memory

"The scriptures also enlarge our memory by helping us not forget what we and earlier generations have learned. Those who either don’t have or ignore the recorded words of God eventually cease to believe in Him and forget the purpose of their existence. There scriptures were key to their knowledge of God and the coming of Redemption of Christ.” D. Todd Christofferson General Conference April 2010

There is a documentary that I watched during last conference by BYUTV. I do not remember the title but I do remember that it was about the Bible. How it came to be. The people who died to bring these scriptures into the light and hands of people not in the clergy. I also noticed that people now no longer read it. Many knew that what it was and that it was for church but no one read it. No one had time for it. They knew it was important but no one picked it up. There were some who did not believe it.

That was so sad. Many people were executed for those precious words to be at our fingertips. our society shows us what has been said above. Those who ignore it for get about God. Just like lemuel and laman. They no longer believed in God because they had no scriptures. That is what is happening now. People forget Him because the do not read of Him.

Scriptures

“Through the scriptures, God does indeed “show forth His power” to save and exalt His children. By His words, as Alma said, He enlarges our memory, sheds light on falsehood and error, and brings us to repentance and to rejoice in Jesus Christ, our Redeemer.”  D. Todd Christofferson General Conference April 2010

The scriptures show us how powerful God is. How he is Omnipotent. Without the scriptures we would not know of His greatness and our Faith would fail us. In these words we are able to fortify our faith in Him.

Support system

“Some forms of temporal redemption come by collaborative effort. It is one of the reasons the Savior created a church. Being organized in quorums and auxiliaries and in stakes, wards, and branches, we can not only teach and encourage each other in the gospel, but we can also bring to bear people and resources to deal with the exigencies of life.” Elder D. Todd Christofferson  General Conference April 2013

When we are in the service of others we are in the service of God. We are our own answers to prayers. We can be guided to the right place only if we listen. We are here to learn from each other and we have a support system here on earth. This can help us go back to our Heavenly Father.

Help others

“Much of our redemptive work on earth is to help others grow and achieve their just hopes and aspirations.” Elder D. Todd Christofferson General Conference April 2013

As I have said before. We are here on earth to help one another. We are each others answers to prayers. That is why we all need to be ready to do service and help one another. We are Heavenly Fathers hands here on earth. When we do service for each other we are servicing our God.

The Atonement

“The Savior’s suffering in Gethsemane and His agony on the cross redeem us from sin by satisfying the demands that justice has upon us. He extends mercy and pardons those who repent. The Atonement also satisfies the debt justice owes to us by healing and compensating us for any suffering we innocently endure.” Elder D. Todd Christofferson General Conference April 2013

To think that he suffered for me. For every pain I have ever felt. For every heart ache I have ever had. When I lost my mother that was the biggest pain I have ever felt and the Savior felt that. He knows how I felt when I saw my mother die in front of me. He has felt my pain. Not only there but what I have been through. Not only mine but everyone ever here on earth and those to come.

By his Grace we can go back to our Heavenly Father. How can I not take that precious gift?

Stand in Holy places

"wherefore, stand in holy places, and be not moved. Standing obedient and strong on the doctrine of our God, we stand in holy places, for His doctrine is sacred and will not change in the social and political winds of our day." Robert D Hales General Conference April 2013

When we stand in holy places we have no reason to fail. There should be no temptation when we are at the right places. The doctrine will never change no matter what. Then stand there and be not moved. There is no other way.

Stand strong

"We have the responsibility to stand strong with a shield of faith against the fiery darts of the adversary. We are role models to the world, protecting God-given, inalienable rights and freedoms. We stand in defense of our homes and our families." Robert D Hales General Conference April 2013

We may not think anyone is looking but everyone is. I thought for a long time that I was invisible in High School when someone wrote about me. It was an essay of who they looked up to and it had to be someone in school. Many wrote about teachers and popular kids. One guys, who seemed to be the class druggy, wrote about me?!

From what I read, since I was given a copy by my counselor, I was a role model. One, I was not pregnant, I never said bad words, and I was always smiling. I never in my life thought anyone knew who I was in High School. We do have a responsibility to stand strong.

The Lords answers

"We may not know when or how the Lord's answers will be given, but in His time and His way, I testify, His answers will come. For some answers we may have to wait until the hereafter. This may be true for some promises in our patriarchal blessings and for some blessings are family members. Let us not give up on the Lord. his blessings are eternal, not temporary." Robert D Hales General Conference April 2011

To know that we have eternity to have some answers given to us. That is hope for me. I have a few unanswered questions but I know that the day and time will come when the Lord knows I will be able to have those answers. They may not come in this lifetime but in the next. To that I am thankful.

Our requirement

"To hope and trust in the Lord requires faith, patience, humility, meekness, long-suffering, keeping the commandments, and enduring to the end."Robert D Hales General Conference April 2011

I am the most inpatient person in the world but I have faith. I know that I need to be what the Lord wants me to be. I need to be more humble and meek. I need to keep all of the commandments and I can be with Him if I do. I have so much to work for but I know I can do it.

Trials

"Test and trials are given to all of us. These mortal challenges allow us and our Heavenly Father to see whether we will exercise our agency to follow His Son. He already knows, and we have the opportunity to learn, that no matter how difficult our circumstances." Robert D Hales General Conference April 2011

I need to remember that trials will always come. These trials are here to teach me something that I need to learn. Even if they are tough with Faith in His son I can endure to the end. I know that Heavenly Father has so much planned for me and I need to trust Him. I need to be obedient.

life

"The purpose of our life on earth is to grow, develop, and be strengthened through our own experiences." Robert D. Hales General Conference 10-2011

I do not remember what prophet was speaking in a funeral and the person who has passed awasy had suffered a lot even when this lady was so faithful and strong. He explained that a diamond is not created over night. That it is with pressure that a diamond is created. I think of my mother that way. During her last years here on earth she had so much paid. I know that she had so much strength and she grew spiritually while she was here. She endured to the end and her faith was so strong.

promises

"All things are possible to the Lord, and He keeps the promises He inspires His prophets to declare. Eternity is a long time. Have faith in those promises and live to be worthy of them so that in His time the Lord can make them come true in your life. With certainty, you will receive every promised blessing for which you are worthy." Richard G. Scott General Conference April 2011

The Lord will never promise something He cannot keep. That is why We need to endure to the end and hold on to the Iron Rod. If we continue to live worthy we will get all the blessings that we are promissed.

Unselfish

"Marriage provides an ideal setting for overcoming any tendency to b selfish or self-centered. I think one of the reasons that we are counseled to get married early in life is to avoid developing inappropriate character traits that are hard to change." Richard G. Scott General Conference April 2011

When you love someone you try to make them happy because they make you happy. That is something I would like to have one day. Being in an eternal marriage is something that is unselfish. If they keep the covenants made in the temple. I love the quote above. Specially now when being single is the "in" thing even for members.

Pure love

"Pure love is an incomparable, potent power for good.Righteous love is the foundation of a successful marriage. It is the primary cause of contented, well-developed children." Richard G. Scott General Conference April 2011

I love this quote, i saw this quote live and in person with my parents. That is something I would like to have one day. We may not be the best children in the world but the love that was given to us growing up is what made us different from the rest.

Temple Marriage

"Two of the vital pillars that sustain Father in Heaven's happiness are marriage and the family...The temple sealing has greater meaning as life unfolds. It will help you draw ever closer together and find greater joy and fulfillment in mortality." Richard G. Scott General Conference April 2011

I hope to have this someday. I know that my parents were great example of this. To this day the love that I see my dad have for my mother after her death is remarkable.

Believe

"Be not afraid, only believe" Gordon B Hinkley

This is a quote that President Hinkley thought of when he was on his mission. Reminded me of my brother who is serving and has had some hard times. To know that a prophet can carry himself during his mission with these simple words humbles me. I will not be afraid because I believe.

When problems come

"When problems come and questions arise, do not start your quest for faith by saying how much you do not have, leading as it were with your "unbelief".. Be true to the faith you do have. Sometimes we act as if an honest declaration of doubt is a higher manifestation of moral courage than is an honest declaration of faith. It is not!" Elder Jeffrey R. Holland General Conference April 2013

When we just hold on to what we know, what we have faith in that will hold us until we get further knowledge. That test will help us know that we can get further knowledge and testify of it. The more we stand strong the stronger we get.

Fear not

"In moments of fear or doubt or troubling times, hold the ground you have already won, even if that ground is limited..Hold fast to what you already know and stand strong until additional knowledge comes."  Elder Jeffrey R. Holland General Conference April 2013

always hope

"To those who are dealing with an addiction personally or within your family, i repeat, fervent prayer is key to gaining the spiritual strength to find peace and overcome an addictive craving. Heavenly Father loves all of His children, so thank Him and express sincere faith in Him. Ask him for the strength to overcome the addiction you are experiencing. Set aside all pride and turn your life and your heart to Him." M Russell Ballard

There have been many prayers for family members and I often ask if they will ever be answered and then I read this. I thank My Father in Heaven for having Him to help me and my family with this.

Powerful prayer

"If anyone who is addicted has a desire to overcome, then there is a way to spiritual freedom-a way to escape from bondage-a way that is proven. It begins with prayer-sincere, fervent, and constant communication with the Creator of our spirit and bodies, our Heavenly Father." M. Russell Ballard

When I watch those who are in bondage this gives me hope. To know that they can be helped if they want that help. Drugs are the worst things I can think of. Not only does the user suffers but the family and friends as well. Heavenly Father has the power to take that away from them if they desire it.

Good over evil

"one of the main methods he uses against us is his ability to lie and deceive to convince us that evil is good and good is evil." M. Russell Balard

The world seems to be heading in the wrong direction and fast. When I was growing up I was laughed at because my hand went up when they asked if my parents were still married. I felt ashamed for something that was good. It has come to the point that the bad seems good and the good seems bad. That lies become truths and truths are questioned.

Hope

"When you feel that there is only a thin thread of hope, it is really not a thread but a massive connecting link, like a life preserver to strengthen and lift you. It will provide comfort so you can cease to fear. Strive to live worthily and place your thrust in the Lord." Richard G. Scott

I have felt times when there seemed like there was no hope. That is when I had to pray for peace in my heart. Those are the times I feel closer to my Father in Heaven. That is when I can see the miracles surround me. I can see the love He has for me and my family.

Power

"One of the greatest blessings we can offer to the world is the power of a Christ-centered home where the gospel is taught, covenants are kept, and love abounds." Richard G. Scott

When there is love for God at home, there is love for everyone. Light and darkness can not coexist. That is why when we have a Christ-centered home there is nothing less that can coexist in the home as well. It reminds me of they Himn "Love at Home".

No match

"Satan is no match for the Savior. Satan's fate is decided. He knows he has lost, but he wants to take as man with him as he can. " Richard G Scott

Even though satan has lost this battle, he is hard at work to take as many prisoners as possible. He has nothing to lose and he knows it. That is why he continues to take people with him promising then the world, when he can only deliver misery.

happiness

"Be obedient to the prophetic teachings Christ would have you follow. Don't rationalize away future happiness by taking shortcuts instead of applying sound gospel principles. Remember; little things lead to big things." Richard G. Scott

The littlest decisions can take us to the wrong places. Those who chose the easy way out can lose so much happiness here on earth and the eternities to come. Our minds can easily help us err. When we think no one will notice, or when we think no one will know. We seem to forget that the one who will notice and the one that will know matters the most. Little things can make big things happen.

Decision

"Be certain that every decision you make, whether temporal or spiritual, is conditioned on what the Savior would have you do. When He is the center of your home, there is a peace and serenity. There is a spirit of assurance that pervades the home, and it is felt by all who dwell there." Richard G. Scott

When we make decisions we need to thing where those decisions will take us. Whether it will gratify us for a second or for eternity. we need to keep our eternal perspective when we make decisions. Our home must have the spirit at all times. Not just our home but our bodies as well.

Home

"The ideal place for that peace is within the walls of our homes, where we have done all we can to make the Lord Jesus Christ the centerpiece." Richard G. Scott

There were times when I was growing up where I was bombarded with different things at school or work. I knew that as soon as I would come home everything would be ok. To that I owe my mother. She had the spirit in our home at all times. Our home was where Christs spirit was present. We all knew that once we were home we were safe.

I have found that when the spirit is present our home is harmonious. We are happy and we have a safe heaven here on earth.

Truth

"It is true that there will always be those who will distort the truth and deliberately misrepresent the teachings of the Church. But the majority of those with questions about the Church simply want to understand. These are fair-minded people who are genuinely curios about us. Elder L. Tom Perry "Perfect Love casteth our fear" General Conference

There are always truths that are twisted and misrepresented. No, my father only had one wife. No, we do like music and we can dance. Yes, we watch television and hear the radio. I have been asked so many strange things and I wonder where they get the information. When they come to me I do want to know what they know first and then explain.

I know that many do want to know who we really are. Who we represent. I love those opportunities because if I can plant a seed that would make me happy.

Important

"We must not pick and choose which commandments we think are important to keep but acknowledge all of God's commandments. We mist stand firm and steadfast, having perfect confidence in the Lord's consistency and perfect trust in His promises." Elder L. Tom Perry "Obedience to Law is Liberty" General Conference April 2013

I was told once that there were members who picked and choose what they wanted to obey like a buffet. In order for us to be eternally happy we need to be obedient. All of Gods laws are important. All of his promises will be fulfilled.

Changes

"The world changes constantly and dramatically, but God, His commandments, and promised blessing do not change." Elder L. Tom Perry "Obedience to Law is Liberty" General Conference April 2013

The commandments are eternal. Year after year things change, seasons change, but not Gods law. In order for us to be happy and to be able to go back to him we need to obey the commandments.

commandments equal love\

"A useful way to think about the commandments is they are loving counsel from a wise, all-knowing Heavenly Father. His goal is our eternal happiness, and His commandments are the road map He has given us to return to Him, which is the only way we will be eternally happy." Elder L. Tom Perry "Obedience to Law is Liberty" General Conference April 2013

That is the soul purpose of the commandments. A guideline for our safe return to our Heavenly Father. He wants nothing more than our eternal happiness and we are here to chose if we want that for ourselves or not.

Choices

"Satan has many reasons for doing what he does. Perhaps the most powerful is the motive of revenge, but he also wants to make men and women  miserable like he is miserable. Each choice you and I make is a test of our agency-whether we choose to be obedient or disobedient to the commandments of God is actually a choice between "liberty and eternal life" and "Captivity and death." Elder L. Tom Perry "Obedience to Law is Liberty" General Conference April 2013

When we do something wrong we are no longer free. We are not tied down and we have given up our agency. Those who chose to do drugs once thought it was the freedom to do them, now find themselves tied down to something they can no longer control. Those who were free to watch inappropriate videos, now find themselves losing their self control.

Satan knows everyone weaknesses and he uses them to make us miserable like himself. That is why we need to be obedient and guard our agency.

God is in Command

"In the universe, too, where God is in command, there is law-universal, eternal...law-with certain blessings and immutable penalties." Elder L. Tom Perry "Obedience to Law is Liberty" General Conference April 2013

I hear once that laws were made to be broken. I thought that was dumb. God has set laws not so we could break them but they were there to protect us. He does not want us to suffer, He wants to protect us from suffering. That is the only reason He placed laws in the first place. Just like parents here on earth. They guide us and give us laws for our own  protections.

while I was growing up that did not seem the case but as I get older I can see what my parents wanted me to protect me from. To that I am grateful.

Endure to the end

"Do not expect to be free entirely from trouble and disappointment and pain and discouragement, for these are the things that we were sent to earth to endure." Boyd K Packer "Prayer and Promptings" General Conference

Life is never perfect although I would love it to be. I know that I have so much pain I still need to go through but that is why I am here. I need to endure to the end. This is just part of life. "I told you it would not be easy, but it would be worth it." I keep remembering these words during the hard days in my life.

Satan's tool

"One of the adversary's sharpest tools is to convince us that we are no longer worthy to pray. No matter who you are or what you may have done, you can always pray." Boyd K Packer "Prayer and Promptings" General Conference

Isn't it funny that when we do something wrong we think there is no turning back, that we are not worth the fight. That is when Heavenly Father wants us to pray even more. That is when He is waiting with open arms to help us back to the path. Satan knows this and uses this against us. He knows that we do not feel  worthy of His love and plays with our minds and emotions. This he does to destroy the most precious gift given to us. The Atonement.

We are worthy and we are loved. We can always come back to Him and He is waiting for us. He wants us to come back to Him. Just like addicts who lose hope and feel that they are not worth fighting for. These are the souls He so desperately wants back in His flock.

MInds

"The lord has many ways of pouring knowledge into our minds to prompt us, to guide us, to teach us, to correct us, to warn us. The Lord said, "I will tell you in  your mind and in your heart, by the Holy Ghost, which shall come upon you and dwell in your heart." (D&C 8:2)Boyd K Packer "Prayer and Promptings" General Conference

I have found myself in prayer for so many things but when I lost my mother I had never prayed for peace in my heart. I knew the church was true. I knew it with all my heart because of my testimony. This time when I prayed my testimony was doubled. I knew of His plan in my soul. I knew it because I had the knowledge given to me not only in my mind but in my heart as well. The Lord had take time and had given me the biggest hug and comforting words anyone could have ever given me.

I can testify that when we pray with a sincere heart and a contrite spirit we will get the answers and promptings we need by our loving Heavenly Father.

Father

"No father would send His children off to a distant, dangerous land for a lifetime of testing where Lucifer was known to roam free without providing them with a personal power of protection."Boyd K Packer "Prayer and Promptings" General Conference

I am humbled to know how I have a loving Father in Heaven who knows what I need and when I need it. To know that He thought of everything in order for me to come back to Him. To know that he will give me every help I need and sent His only Begotten Son in order for me to have an opportunity to go back to His presence.

It is through His Grace that we can be in His presence some day.

Guiding light

"All are born with the Light of Christ, a guiding influence which permits each person to recognize right from wrong. What we do with that light and how we respond to those promptings to live righteously is part of the test of mortality."
Boyd K Packer "These things I know" General Conference April 2013

I have noticed that when I am obeying  I am happier. When I disobey Heavenly Father I am sad and the light that we are born leaves me. This is part of the test here on earth. I know that if I do wrong I do not have the Holy Spirit with me and I am lost. In order for me to continue to have his guidance I do what I have to do to have it back into my life.

God's law is Eternal

"The permissiveness afforded by the weakening of the laws of the land to tolerate legalized acts of immorality does not reduce the serious spiritual consequence that is the result of the violation of God's law of chastity."
Boyd K Packer "These things I know" General Conference April 2013

We have been trusted with a power and we are and should only be allowed for this power to be used with the proper authority.  Satan knows that he will never have a body and it is exactly the tool he uses to deceive us so we can be his slaves. With not obeying the law of chastity we lose our agency as well.

Free to choose

"We are free to choose what we will and to pick and choose our acts, but we are not free to choose the consequences." Boyd K Packer "These things I know" General Conference April 2013

I have learned very quickly that we may choose what we want to do but we are not going to choose our consequences. We will either receive a reward for what we do or a consequence. Since I was little I knew my actions were either bringing me joy or sadness. Some choices may have brought me happiness for a few seconds but then the pain will come.

This is where the Atonement comes to the rescue. It is there for us but it is up to us to use it. To bring us back to where we are suppose to be and bring us back to our eternal destination.

Teach

"Teach yourself and teach your families about the gift of the Holy Ghost and the Atonement of Jesus Christ. You will do no greater eternal work than within the walls of your own home."
Boyd K Packer "These things I know" General Conference April 2013

There is nothing more important to teach our children than about the Holy Ghost. We need to teach them to recognize his sweet whispers and to follow it. We need to teach them to always ask for guidance from it and to always want to be with it. Families are the most important thing we have here on earth and in the eternities to come.

I have a great family here and I want them to be with them forever. We all need the Holy Ghost to be close to us because that guarantees us that we are closer to our eternal destination.
"We will not always be safe from the adversary's influence, even within our own homes. We need to protect our nestings."  Boyd K Packer "These things I know" General Conference April 2013

We are never safe because Satan is always trying to tare us  down. We are not safe even in our homes. That is why we need to be on guard at all times. We need to be prepared to know what to do whenever anything arises. Just like Captain Moroni never rested and always prepared his weakest parts of his places, we need to make our weakest parts our strongest.

God has spoken

"What I the Lord have spoken, I have spoken, and I excuse not myself; and through the heavens and the earth pass away, my word shall not pass away, but shall all be fulfilled, whether by mine own voice of by the voice of my servants, it is the same."  Doctrine and Covenants 1:38

General conference reminder. Reading the talks brings peace in my life.

It might not have been a direct quote but a scripture. This is so powerful. To know that when we listen to one of Heavenly Fathers servant we are listening to Him. We are being chastised by Him. We are being guided by Him.

Missionary

“A mission is a family affair. Though the expanse of continents or oceans may separate, heart are as one.” President Thomas S. Monson

When my brother was set apart one of the words that our Stake President said. When my brother would kneel and pray for us and we would do the same we would be closer that anyone could be. I have found that it is true. When we pray for families he is teaching just like him, when we pray for him to find those who are ready, when we try to do what he wants for those families he teaches, and when we help our local missionaries we have become closer. It does not matter that he is so far away and we miss him dearly the continent are nothing to how close we are to him and the work he is doing.

Being on a mission is not just for the missionary, it is also for the family who supports the missionary as well. We are of one heart.

Preach the Gospel

“After all that has been said, the greatest and most important duty is to preach the Gospel.” Joseph Smith

Truer words have never been so powerful. Being a missionary with or without a tag is a great duty. I am very humbled to know of all the things that Joseph Smith went through in order for the Gospel to be restored. He sacrificed so much and suffered so much to preach the Gospel. We are all in debt with him to continue working and preaching the Gospel that he died for.

The truth and light needs to continue to spread around the world. To preach the Gospel to the ends of the world and into every single home would be what our Father in Heaven would want us to do.

Missionary time

"No proclamation more relevant, no responsibility more binding, no instruction more direct than the injunction given by the resurrected Lord as He appeared in Galilee to the eleven disciples: Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Teach them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.”

There is nothing more important in this life than Missionary Work. Now that I have my brother serving a mission I know that this work is the most important thing to do here. To help bring our brethren and sisters back in the presence of our Father in Heaven. I love the Missionary work and those who are helping. I have learned that being a missionary we do not need a name tag. We are all missionaries. We are here to help those who have been set apart. We are all missionaries. I love our missionaries.

We are now in a very important time in life. We have the largest missionary army ever here on earth. That is something remarkable.

Revelations

"Different problems and many variations of old problems continually challenge us. Our wise and loving Heavenly Father knows all things before they happen, and He reveals answers and solutions through His prophet as needed." Teachings of the living prophets

I am eternally grateful for our Prophets, both old and new prophets are given direct guidance from our Father in Heaven.  We can see problems and answers to those problems in our scriptures. To know that if we listen to the prophets we are listening to Heavenly Father. We all have problems and I have found that if i listen to their counsel I will be okay. My problems are not new nad He knows what is happening and what will happen. Heavenly Father knows whet I need to learn in order for me to be what He wants me to be.

Revelations "sweet small voice"

“In our day, as in times past, many people expect that if there be revelation it will come with awe-inspiring, earth-shaking display. For many it is hard to accept as revelation those numerous ones in Moses’ time, in Joseph’s time, and in our own year—those revelations which come to prophets as deep, unassailable impressions settling down on the prophet’s mind and heart as dew from heaven or as the dawn dissipates the darkness of night." Spencer W. Kimbal

There have been times in my life that I have been asked for personal revelation and find myself waiting and waiting for something big to happen to tell me where I should go or do. When all along the answers have been there all along. I just seem to forget that personal revelation does not come with lightning and thunder but with a sweet small voice. Our Father in Heaven can only speak that way to us.

The outside noise does not help either. I have found that if I pray and do my part then take time to ponder it and wait for that sweet small voice I will get the answer and will be directed to the light.

General Conference

"Conference is the time when our leaders give us inspired direction in the conduct of our lives—a time when souls are stirred and resolutions are made to be better husbands and wives, fathers and mothers, more obedient sons and daughters, better friends and neighbors”
(in Conference Report, Oct. 1981, 15; or  Ensign, Nov. 1981, 12;

Every General Conference I ask five specific questions. I write them down and pray for guidance when i attend Conference. As the quote above mentions we are inspired the way we should direct our lives. One by one my questions are answered. I have done this for about six years and without fail i will have all of my questions answered. I know that if I follow the council of our leaders I cannot go wrong and neither will my family.

Personal revelation during General Conference is never wrong.

Prophets

“Of all mortal men, we should keep our eyes most firmly fixed on the captain, the prophet, seer, and revelator, and president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This is the man who stands closest to the fountain of living waters." Ezra Taft Benson

As I started to read for the class I feel in love with this quote. We all come to a point when we must ask if our leaders of the Church are true. If these men were truly chosen to guide and direct us. This desire came to me at a young age. I did not get my answer until a year later. When I was at General Conference and got to meet one. His Spirit testified to my Spirit that the man before me was a true seer of the Lord.

We all need to get on our knees and ask for this personal revelation.
