"In our weakened moments, the adversary seeks to steal our spiritual promises. If we are not watchful, our injured, childlike spirit will retreat back into the cold, dark crust of our former bloated ego, leaving behind the warm, healing light of the Savior.” Neil L. Andersen General Conference October 2010
When I was in Young Women there was a speaker told us a story. For some reason there was a member who went over to the bishops home late at night. He just wanted to come by and tell him that he would no longer be going to church. He said that he heard his story or excuse and was very sad. While he listened to him he started to look at his fireplace. Once the brother was done. He got up and told his brother. "look at this piece of coal." He removed it from the rest of the coals and they both watched its red heat drift off and turn gray and cold into the night. "Brother, that is you and the other coals are the gospel." They both sat there crying without words.
I have found many times when things have gotten the best of me. Then I remember this story. I know that there will be more trials coming my way but just like a little coal, I need to be in the gospel in order for me to continue with my faith and the Light of the Savior.
